Brew City Pet Services Attends International Pet-Sitter Conference

Local pet sitter increases pet-care skills, gains new business knowledge and helps raise thousands for a pet-rescue group at PSI’s 2014 Pet Sitter World Educational Conference & Expo in Indianapolis

Stephanie Lefever of Brew City Pet Services (BCPS) was one of more than 100 professional pet sitters and industry experts from the United States, Puerto Rico and Belgium to attend Pet Sitters International’s 2014 Pet Sitter World Educational Conference & Expo, held September 12-15 in Indianapolis, Ind.

Pet Sitters International (PSI) is the world’s largest educational association and PSI’s Pet Sitter World is considered the professional pet-sitting industry’s top educational conference.

“Brew City Pet Services’ s attendance at this conference demonstrates a commitment to staying up-to-date on pet-care and business skills to provide the highest level of service to the company’s human and pet clients,” said Patti Moran, PSI president and pet-sitting industry founder. “It takes an investment of time and money for professional pet sitters to be away from their businesses and speaks highly/volumes of those who recognize the learning opportunity our annual conference provides.”

PSI’s 2014 Pet Sitter World Educational Conference & Expo offered attendees a wide range of educational opportunities, with general sessions, learning labs and optional workshops led by pet-care veterans, trainers, veterinarians and other pet-industry experts. Sessions covered a variety of topics, with a special focus on geriatric pet care and exotic pets. Additional topics included aggressive dogs, cat litter box and scratching issues and handling pet loss and grief.

“Brew City Pet Services is committed to providing the best care possible to our clients’ pets,” said Lefever. “Attending PSI’s Pet Sitter World helps us achieve this goal by offering new ideas and pet-care techniques, as well as providing the opportunity to network with fellow pet-care professionals.”

Lefever also participated in the annual PSI Charity Auction, which raised $21,000 to benefit the Prison Greyhounds, Inc., an Indianapolis-based non-profit organization which pairs nonviolent inmates in an Indiana correctional facility with former racing greyhounds to provide fostering, training and socialization for the dogs prior to their adoption in to permanent, loving homes. Each year, the PSI Charity Auction proceeds are donated to a pet-related non-profit organization in the conference’s host city. To date, the annual event has raised more than $110,000 for pet-related organizations across the United States.
